Information for guests

This event will be conducted in English.

Poet Yasuhiro Yotsumoto and philosopher Istvan Zardai will host a virtual conversation through Zoom, as the Japan-leg of the global trip of Mary Midgley’s Biscuit Tin. The conversation will be free and open to all.

Yasuhiro and Istvan will discuss a number of topics connected to the central theme of ‘Instinct’ in Midgley’s work including “Beast and Man” and “Science and Poetry”.

After a 25-30 minute introduction we will open the floor for questions and carry on the conversation with the participation of our audience.

The conversation will be accompanied by the release of an electronic volume. This little booklet will contain Yasuhiro’s and Istvan’s letters exchanged in preparation for the event, and a cycle of Yasuhiro’s poems prompted by Mary’s work.
