1st-2nd April 2016, University of Southampton, UK
N.B. Deadline approaching! (Feb 1st)
We invite abstract submissions from postgraduate students on any area of the philosophy of art or aesthetics for the BSA Postgrad conference, to be held in Southampton, UK, on the 1st-2nd April, 2016. This conference will provide a platform for postgraduate aestheticians to present their research and share ideas in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Aaron Meskin (Leeds) and Katherine Thomson-Jones (Oberlin) will give keynote talks.
Please send abstracts of between 500 and 800 words to the organisers at bsa.soton.2016@gmail.com by 1st February 2016. Any queries should be directed to the same address. Submissions are welcome in any area or tradition of aesthetics and the philosophy of art, and submissions in the philosophy of modern art-forms, such as film, video games, computer art and comic books are especially encouraged. All abstracts will be double-blind reviewed, and we aim to let people know whether their papers have been accepted by mid-February. The University of Southampton is committed to equality along all axes, and submissions from under-represented groups are especially welcome. We will offer a small number of bursaries to postgraduate presenters who would otherwise be unable to afford to attend.
The conference will be held in an accessible building. If you have any particular requirements, including dietary and childcare requirements, please let us know and we will do all we can to accommodate you.
This conference is entirely funded through the generosity of the British Society of Aesthetics.
The conference has a Facebook group at www.facebook.com/bsasoton2016/, and a website for the conference is being maintained at bsasoton2016.wix.com/info.
