Deadline for submission: December 1st, 2021
The interaction between moral and aesthetic / artistic evaluation (or lack thereof) has been a lively topic of discussion in philosophical aesthetics during the past few decades and it is becoming even more relevant in the context of contemporary artistic practices and recent public controversy.
The British Journal of Aesthetics intends to dedicate a special issue on Art and Morality with an emphasis on contemporary debates. We encourage papers on new and/or neglected topics such as cancel culture, censorship in art, ethics and aesthetics of monuments and their vandalism/preservation, moral and aesthetic problems in body aesthetics, problems with the perception of beauty of devastated or depleted landscapes, ethics and aesthetics of political protests, or any other contemporary aspect of the debate.
Papers should conform to the usual BJA requirements and be submitted for consideration by December 1st, 2021.
Any queries should be addressed to the editors, Paloma Atencia Linares (atenciap@gmail.com) or Derek Matravers (derek.matravers@open.ac.uk).
