Scottish Aesthetics Forum
Since the beginning of the pandemic, many of the smaller conferences in aesthetics have not taken place due to restrictions on gatherings. These smaller conferences have been important forums where postgrads have had the opportunity to present and get feedback on their work. They also provided friendly spaces where students from around the UK could informally meet to exchange ideas and share resources.
With this in mind, we are planning to host a Zoom ‘work-in-progress’ workshop for current PGRs in aesthetics from universities across the UK. Depending on the level of interest, the workshop could be one or two days at the beginning of July. The workshop would be pre-read. Paper length would be 4,000-8,000 words. Each presenter would take about five to ten minutes to present the main ideas from their thesis chapter, conference paper, or article followed by prepared comments by a workshop participant and a period of questions, comments, and suggestions.
Depending on the level of interest, we may have to limit the number of participants. Additionally, if there is sufficient interest, we would be willing to organize a second workshop at the beginning of next semester to accommodate papers we were unable to discuss in the July workshop.
If you are a PGR working in aesthetics at a university in the UK and you would be interested in an opportunity to share your work as well as to meet other PGRs with similar research interests, please email the Scottish Aesthetics Forum at scottishaestheticsforum@gmail.com, letting us know your general research area within aesthetics and your institution within the UK.
