Department of Philosophy (University of Rijeka) and Croatian Society for Analytic Philosophy issue a Call for papers for the international conference dedicated to the aesthetic theory of Immanuel Kant

Kant’s Third Critique:
Historical Context and Contemporary Relevance

To be held at the University of Rijeka, Croatia, on July 19th 2019
Plenary speaker: Dr. Lara Ostaric, Temple University

The aim of the conference is to foster a dialogue between Kant Studies and Contemporary Analytic Philosophy of Art and Aesthetics. We hope to analyse Kant’s aesthetic theory in its historical contextand to reveal its contemporary relevance, primarily by showing how his ideas relate to and contribute to issues discussed in contemporary philosophy of art and aesthetics. The organisers invite submission from both Kant scholars working on any aspect of Kant’s theory which relates to his third Critique, aestheticians and philosophers of art.

If you are interested in attending, please send an abstract of max. 350 words to ividmar@ffri.hr by June the 5th 2019. Abstracts should be ready for double-blind review, and we kindly ask to remove any identification detail from the abstract and to send the author’s name, paper title, and affiliation in thebody of the email. Notifications of acceptance will be sent out by June 15 2019.

Presentations will be allotted a total of 40 minutes, ideally 25 minutes of presentation + 15 minutes of discussion. Unfortunately, we cannot cover for any traveling or accommodation, but there is no conference fee. Should you have any additional question, please contact us at the email indicated above.
